This is Chris with Polar USA. Welcome to another installment in our series of Polar Unique Features. Today I’m going to introduce you to Polar OwnIndex. This feature is an aerobic fitness measurement that affects the accuracy of your training program and calorie calculation during training. It’s also a great way to track your improvements over time, which is the key to maximizing your fitness. Polar OwnIndex predicts your maximal oxygen uptake, and the result is comparable to your VO2 max. A score ranges from 20-95, and the higher your OwnIndex value, the better your aerobic fitness. This feature is available on select Polar products. Today we’re going to walk you through the step by step process of setting up OwnIndex. Jen is going to set this feature on her FT40. This test should be performed once you get your new Polar training computer and then every three months. First, you need to find a quiet and relaxing environment free from distractions. Next, put on your chest strap and lie down from one to three minutes. After three minutes, remain lying down and then go to the Menu function, then Fitness Test, then select Start Test. The test will begin instantly once the training computer has located your heart rate. Continue to lie down and relax. This test takes about five minutes to complete. When …
