Good morning,
I have been spinning for the past month and I love it. Everyone in my class has a heart rate monitor. I would like to get a HRM. So far I have dome research and I really like the features of the "POLAR F11". Would you recommend that for a HRM beginner? If not, I also like the "POLAR F7". If you spin, what HRM do you use, and does it work well for you?
Also, I am looking for spinning shoes. Is there anything special I should know when trying them on and looking for well priced items?
I would also use the HRM in personal training sessions, zumba classes, and swimming.
I appreciate your time and have a great day.
I have decided against Timex because our spinning monitors do not pick up Timex readings, but thank you for your input. I would use the HRM for more than just spinning class, but I understand where you are coming from. Thanks for the inputs on shoes… stiff sole and take notice of clipping/cleat style. Lastly, that is a wonderful idea of the moisture wicking socks = very smart!
Thank you for your input!
Review of the Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor
Features I Like About the Timex T5H881 Zone Trainer Digital Heart Rate Monitor www.digitalsportwatches.com
I just got one of these and am reading through the paperwork. But thought I might get a clearer answer here. My resting heart rate was 74 and it had a 41% next to it. Does that mean my max heart rate shouldn’t be more than 104? That seems low, doesn’t it? I exercise and am sure my heart rate goes past 104 during cardio.
I also forgot to add that I do have 1 cup of black coffee about an hour before my work-out. Not sure if that changes the numbers.
If I can actually get a real answer to my question, that would be great! I’m not asking about personal opinions of HRM’s, just what my max heart rate should be….. hmmm….
I work out in a gym..I use the treadmill and lift weights. Sometimes I do cardio at home as well, on my bike or elliptical. I do not know which HRM to purchase. I heard Polar is good, but I do not know which model to buy. Do I need one with a chest strap? Which do you prefer?
hey everybody i’ve been doing the p90x workout for about a month now and i really need a HRM for my heart rate and also help see how many calories i’m burning per workout. i’m looking for something with the watch display and chest strap i’ve heard those are more accurate and something reasonably priced so if anybody has some suggestions i’m all ears thanks.
If you are like me, you bought a Timex Heart Rate Monitor but found the thick instruction manual to be extremely confusing. This video shows you everything you need to know to use your heartrate monitor: How to set it up with your personal stats, how to use it during a workout and see your heartrate in real time, and finally how to find out how many calories you burned at the end. This simple video is better than 150 pages of instruction manual
I have a HRM and an exercise bike. The HRM does not ask for any of my personal information and the exercise bike only asks for my age. Which is more accurate when delivering calories burned results? How about for equipment at the gym that takes into account weight and age, is the HRM that asks for nothing more accurate than the equipment?
im looking for a hrm but all of the ones at the main stores like walmart and academy are super expensive. is there any place where i can get one thats under 35 or 30? i really want one with the chest strap too b/c i heard those are far more accurate than the other ones.
I just bought my HRM after Christmas and have really enjoyed it. However, I have often wondered about the accuracy of the calories burned. I can’t really find any information on the web about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am planning to buy a HRM and plan to use it for mainly jogging. I decided to get the Nike Traix c5 but it has an chest attachement, which i just found out through ebay as i was looking for the best deal…. Can anyone suggest some good HRM’s which also show calories burned, and which do not have those chest attachments???

Just wondered why a persons pulse does not register very well (if at all) on an HRM. I’ve tried several: chest, wrist, and the HRM’s on treadmills and bikes. None of them seem to register anything except for the chest-type monitors; and even they sometimes do not register or are way off. Is it possible the pulse is just too weak?
