I recently purchased the polar ft4 heart rate monitor adn used the calorie counter to how many calories i burn in a 24hr period. I burned 5992 in 24hrs. 782 of that was during my 1 hr weight lifting. This doesn’t sound right. Any thoughts? Also i was off work so i sat around watching tv most of the day.

am i going to have a heart attack?

im 18 years old, around 5,6 and i weight around 140punds (im not sure about this maybe i weight a little more)

my doctor told me a few years ago that i had to exercise regularly because my cholesterol levels went up too quickly and it could lead to heart problems (very unlikely but it’s possible). i used to exercise every day before i stopped and after this i’ve been worried about my health.

i stopped exercising about a year ago and i’ve been feeling a little weird lately. i get slight chest pains occasionally, it doest really hurt it’s just a little uncomfortable. i’ve been watching my blood pressure and heart rate these past few days and i dont think they’re okay. my blood pressure is around 120-130 / 80-90, my rested heart rate is what worries me because it seems a little bit too fast (around 70+ bpm). last week i tried to start exercising again and my heart rate while running went up to around 185 i think. also today i was running up the stairs and a few seconds after i felt a very slight pain on the inner upper part of the arm. this happened to me twice today and im worried about this because i think this is what it feels like when you’re about to have a heart attack.

Heart rate monitor … can you recommend?

I want to buy a heart rate monitor to use when I work out. Can you recommend a good one? Or tell me which one(s) to avoid?
Thanks in advance!!

The past 2 days all of a sudden my heart rate has increased alot. I can just be sitting watching TV and if it’s quiet enough I can hear my heart beating. If I go up stairs or something it increases a lot more. It’s really weird and annoying. I’ve never had this before. I also feel like I can’t catch my breath. Has anyone experienced this before? How long did it last..is this anything I can do to make it go away? I will add that recently–the past month–I changed my diet and have started eating MUCH healthier. I also started exercising..and maybe pushed myself a little too far. I had not exercised in quite a long time..and a couple weeks ago I ran for a long time. I don’t know if that would matter. Although the past week I haven’t worked out much at all. Anyway, any help is appreciated as I really DONT want to see a doctor. Thanks:)

question about heart rate monitors?

I want to buy one, but I don’t know which kind to get. The ones at sports authority are really pricey. Walmart has some that are more affordable, I’ve been looking at Polar watches from sports authority, but I want to know if the cheaper brands at walmart are just as good. Or is this a matter of ” you get what you pay for ”

I did more research on the Garmin Forerunner 405CX, Garmin Forerunner 310XT, Polar FT80, and the Polar FT60. I frequently workout, but mostly cardio based. I run about 6 miles a day, or I do INSANITY by beach body.I am currently training for a half marathon, and a full marathon. Then a half triathelon in a little over a year. What heart rate monitor would work for me the best?
Thanks
Bryce

I’m 18 and work out rigorously 5 days a week, lifting weights and lots of cardio. I am interested in possibly getting a heart rate monitor but don’t know where to start. What do they do for you? What do you gain from them? How much do they cost? What is a good brand? Where do I get a good price? Help please.

Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor Review

A detailed review by www.tiptopshop.com.au of the Polar FT7 Silver Heart Rate Monitor Watch

First off I am a female in my teens and I have two types of heart disease.
1. Non compaction cardiomyopathy and 2. premature ventricular contraction.

Both apparently don’t have anything to do with the other. I am not on any medicine, but i may take beta blockers in the future, and I have striped my diet of caffeine. I also exercise daily, but I take many breaks to stop my heart rate from going up. My cardiologist instructed me to watch my heart rate not let it get up to high, also not to play any competitive sports (soccer, lacrosse) in case anything goes wrong i can stop. if you could just give me some suggestions, and possibly give me a list of what i can and can’t do. like what could happen if my heart rate goes up to high?

I’m not necessarily asking about weight im not concerned about that really i just want to know if i can do regular activities. someone asked me something that kind of concerned me and got me thinking. They were wondering if i was able to "have children" or have sex in the future since i can’t bring my heart rate up is that true?

When I ride my bike or use my elliptical, I strive for 75% of my maximum heart rate as recorded by my heart rate monitor. would that qualify as moderate or intense exercise? Should I be striving for 100% of my maximum heart rate for it to be intense aerobic exercise?

Age: 17
Gender:Female
Weight:As Of Today 282(half naked lol) Yesterday I Was 284.8(Clothes)
Morbidly Obese
Height 5’7” 3/4 Almost 5’8 hehe

(tip for people// clothes do weigh you down on the scale so get naked and then check your weight. haha. Not as if it makers a big difference for me but hey every lb counts

Anyway Its 5 I ate 610 Cals so far today. I Havent Ate Yet Because I Just Got Done Exercising. I already counted my total day calories count it will end up at 1032(not good i know) I Try To Get To 1200-1400 Its Kinda hard sometimes. MoVing On

I Worked Out For A Total Minutes Of 84:41 Thats 1hr 24 Mins & 41 Seconds For Those Who Dont Know./// Thats Kinda Bad Time Since i Do 91 Mins The Other Day.
I have a watch that does my heart rate, weight, timer, and calories burn. I added today’s total of 779! I burned more then i ate…..is that bad or good thing?

My Workout Consists Of Lots Of Cardio And Strengt Training
I dont do it all at one time by the way. I Do once between breakfast and launch and then the rest between launch and dinner. The First Half Is Mostly Cardio And The Second Half Little Cardio, More strength training.

All I Want To Know Is, Is That Good?

Is it bad if i burned more then i ate already?

Thanks For Reading. Best Answer Will Receive 10 poorrow i always pick a best answer and reply.
I know its not enough cal’s. I might have little more so i can get 1200 or little more then that. I just dont want to stuff myself

I am female, 32, 5’6", 150lbs, low blood pressure, good overall health, pretty healthy family, non-smoker, non-drinker, happily married mother of two.

For as long as I can remember I haven’t been a good runner, always tiring just a short distance into a run, but I really enjoyed those three or four minutes of running. As an adult I decided that if I just started running a little further every day (or every other day) that I could eventually work my way up to a mile, three miles, six miles…10k! But no, no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get past a half mile.

Finally I asked my ob about it during an annual exam, she asked what my heart rate was…I had no idea. She said this is important so I went right out and got a Polar heart monitor and was alarmed to find my heart rate skyrocket past 190 bpm shortly into a workout. Using the information that came with the monitor, I found what is supposed to be a good "aerobic" heart rate (144-158).

Now, it is nearly impossible for me to stay in that zone while trying even the slowest of jogs (3mph). So I decided I would try to stay in the "Anaerobic Threshold" range of 158-168 bpm, thinking that I could lower my heart rate further once I could master keeping it in the higher range. Again, no. Here’s where I am today…

I start out at a slow jog, which for me is 4mph (I am comfortable at 5 or even 6mph, but alas, not do-able). I can run about 1/8 mile before heart rate reaches 160, so I slow down to 3.8 and keep slowing as heart rate climbs until I’m going about 3mph. Even at this pace my rate will keep climbing if I don’t stop to walk. During walking breaks I speed up to at least 3.5 mph.

I am on the treadmill 3 to 4 times a week, about an hour at a time. I ache for the feeling of going for a good run, not a rediculous shuffle/jog. There has got to be a better way to get my heart rate down, but I’ve found nothing so far.

Thank you for taking the time to read my life story…I would appreciate appropriate training links. And please don’t tell me that I have to resign myself to being a walker. I look forward to your replies. ~Tangerine

I wanted to use a heart rate monitor during grappling but don’t want to injure my partner or break the device. I think i need a device that is sturdy, has a long range sensor (so i can keep the watch portion in my bag off the mat), shaped in such a way that it won’t injure my training partner, and won’t interfere with my movements. I don’t know anyone that actually uses heart rate monitors when grappling, but I thought I’d give it try. I’m also open to opinions as to why this isn’t a good idea. Thanks.

Heart rate monitor and exercise?

I am considering buying a heart rate monitor to assist me in my work out routine- I usually am outside on my bike or in the park so I can’t rely on the ones on the machines at the gym.

My question is- does anyone use a heart rate monitor to help them with their exercise? What do you like about it?
Do you think it helps you work out more efficiently and burn more calories?

No lame answers please- thank you

every week in gym we have to run 11 laps with a heart rate monitor and if our average heart rate is below 165 we lose a lot of points but i hate running so how do i trick the heart rate monitor into thinking my heart rate is faster than it actually is

A detailed review by www.tiptopshop.com.au Polar FT80 FT80G1 Heart Rate Monitor including all of the main features.

It seems a little weird to me. I’m doing nothing but lying in bed trying to sleep or sitting and watching a movie and I suddenly notice that my heart is racing along like I’m running. I feel a bit like I can’t catch my breath and I keep taking big slow breaths hoping to slow things down. I get hot too, not sweating or anything but just warm. My normal resting heart rate is about 50 beats per minute and my heart thumps hard at about 90 beats per minute.

This happens once every two months or so, sometimes after I’ve done extra-strenuous exercise like skiing all day… but sometimes not. If it’s a bad "episode" then I wont be able to sleep all night and my heart wont calm down until sometime later the next day.

Is it hyperthyroidism? Is it coincidence? I’m not old enough for hot flashes. I’m healthy and I exercise and my life isn’t all that stressful. Any advice?

my heart stress test on ergometer until exhaustion with heartbeat sound, increasing exercise intensity to reach maximum heartrate (over 200 bpm), large speakers or headphones recommended

Is my heart rate normal?

hi ive recently bought a polar heart rate watch and monitor, i am 17 , i was watching my heart rate and it was at 74bpm resting and it shot up 192bpm, is that ok or bad, could it have been a fault maybe in the watch? thanks for answers

I am a 37 yo female.

I walk (brisk) 45-90 minutes 5-7 days a week, do strength training 3x/week.

My resting heart rate before getting out of bed this morning was 81. My sitting heart rate is around 90. Avg HR during brisk treadmill walk last night was 135, max HR during walk was 167. An hour after my walk, my HR was still around 100.

Readings are not taken near sugar intake. I do not consume any caffeine. I am a healthy weight (121 at 5′ 4.75"). I wasn’t worried/anxious during the readings either.

I don’t know what my readings were previously. I just got a heart rate monitor and so only now have checked. I double checked with my pulse to confirm that monitor is correct. Yes, I do know how to take an accurate pulse.

I could understand a higher HR if I was older, overweight, out-of-shape, anxious, taking in stimulants, or using a faulty heart rate monitor.

But why is mine so high?

Thanks,
Tamara
