I’m looking for an affordable heart rate monitor that I can buy in store. The ones on the machines don’t work very well because they only give me readings every now and then during my workout so it’s not a constant reading. Also I feel like the readings they give me are not accurate sometimes. Thank you!

I am currently looking at the Garmin Forerunner 301. Does any one have one of these watches or a watch that they like? I would like to keep the price reasonable 200 or less. Any ideas suggestions? Please serious responses. I am getting close to my first 1/2 marathon and plan to move to a full when ready. I am not a cyclist or a swimmer, runner only.
I am NOT a hard core exercise person. I’m just looking to get in better shape by running. I suspect that I’d get quickly adjusted to the chest strap but are there any wrist monitors which keep continuous track of your heart rate? I don’t wanna have to stop and put two fingers over the sensor, know what I mean?
I want to purchase a heart rate monitor (HRM) so that I can improve the outcome of my workouts. My cardio typically consists of running on a treadmill at the gym. Does anyone have any input as to which Polar HRM I should purchase? Are there any features that I should keep in mind when making my decision? We purchased a 3.3T Horizon treadmill and it has a heart rate monitor on the handles. How long can you leave your hands on the handles to read a true accurate rate, or can you get a wrong read out by leaving your hands on too long?

I’m 19 and I weighh about 160 lbs. Im trying to achieve a certain target zone that would be most effective for calorie and fat burning in general. I checked on line and my max. heart rate is 201.
